As well, there are references to nightfall and the colour blue.Īnother reason why I listen to Enya is that she helps me calm down. It also contains some Christian imagery, namely light, water, and searching. It was inspired by a British island called Sark which was recently given a dark-sky preserve status for astronomy, as well as by poems based on Sark that were written by Enya's lyricist. Released in 2015, it contains 11 tracks (not including 3 bonus tracks) and is much more reflective than her previous offerings. Known for her hits "Watermark", "Only Time", and "May It Be" (used in The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring), she is also one of the singers you'd most likely hear in our house, whether it is during the day or just before bedtime.ĭark Sky Island is her eighth studio album. It is difficult to find a song that does not contain swearing or innuendo, but at the same time sounds catchy or beautiful. ![]() ![]() As a conservative Catholic, I find that most music today is inappropriate, both in content and in sound. Before I begin this review, I would like to explain why Enya is my second favourite artist (after the group ABBA). ![]()
